Frequently Asked Questions

+ What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, a natural chemical compound found in cannabis plants that interacts with the endocannabinoid biological system in humans and other mammals. The endocannabinoid system regulates various cognitive and physiological processes – such as mood, sleep, appetite, and pain-sensation – in order to promote homeostasis, or equilibrium in the body. When introduced into the body, CBD and other cannabinoids assist with regulation and homeostasis, which can help alleviate pain, improve sleep quality, increase appetite, and reduce stress.

+ What are Terpenes?

Terpenes are essential oils created by plants to protect themselves from environmental stresses and are being studied for their benefits in addressing pain, anxiety, inflammation, depression, insomnia and other health issues. Current science has found that terpenes work in concert with CBD providing what’s referred to as the “entourage effect”.

+ What makes Oblend’s products different?

Unlike most CBD retailers who focus primarily on CBD potency in the development of their tinctures, Altopa’s patented terpene blending platform enables the precise and consistent blending of individual cannabinoids and terpenes formulated to target specific health benefits and the tailoring of those blends to an individual’s specific needs.

+ Will this work for me?

While plant-medicine is not a one-size-fits-all proposition, our research-based formulations often do work surprisingly well for many with no adjustment. As you use the product and based on your feedback, your blend can be adjusted so that over time, you find the perfect solution for your body. This process may take 1 or 2 adjustments, so if your first product doesn’t provide the benefit you are looking for, don’t give up. We’re confident that together, we’ll be able to find your optimal blend and the relief that you are looking for.

+ How much feedback do I have to provide?

The short answer is none. However, if you want to maximize your outcomes, we will need your feedback to determine whether an adjustment to your ingredients is necessary. The more feedback we receive from you, the faster you’ll find relief. If you’d like to provide feedback, then we’ll send you 3-5 surveys during your first 2-3 months of using our products. Once we’ve found the blend of ingredients that works best for you, we may check in a couple of times a year just to make sure that your product is still working or whether we need to consider adjusting the ingredients again.

+ Will these products get me high?

No, these products do not have an intoxicating effect and will NOT get you “high”.

+ Will I test positive for cannabis if I use CBD?

While legal hemp sourced CBD oils contain less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. usually, it is not enough to test positive. However, there have been some rare cases depending on the test utilized, in which a person using large amounts of CBD oil has tested positive.

+ How much do I need to take and how do I take it?

You should follow the dosing protocol recommended by your doctor. In the absence of advice from your doctor, we recommended starting with ¼ milliliter. Try it for a couple of days. On any given day, ask “Was this dose adequate to take care of my symptoms.” If the answer is no, then increase the dosage by ¼ milliliter. However, if you are experiencing any side effects, then stay on that dosage until your side effects diminish before increasing the dosage. Basically, you can never go too slow, but you can go too fast. Determining the best CBD dosage generally depends on the following factors.

Concentration: Concentration, or strength, refers to the total amount of CBD in a given product. Concentration is measured in milligrams (mg). This is different from dosage, which indicates the amount of CBD per serving. For instance, let’s say a bottle of CBD tincture has a concentration of 1500 mg and contains 30 milliliters (mL) of tincture, with 1 mL as the standard serving size. This means each 1-mL serving will contain approximately 50 mg of CBD; the consumer is not ingesting 1500 mg with each dose.

Body weight: A person’s weight often plays a role in how much – or how little – CBD affects the body. Generally speaking, heavier people need higher doses to experience the benefit of CBD; lighter people, on the other hand, may feel the same effects with a lower dose.

Desired effects: For many, the optimal dose comes down to the level of pain or discomfort they are experiencing. Someone with chronic pain or severe anxiety may need a higher dose to alleviate their symptoms, whereas a person with a milder condition may prefer a lower dose with less pronounced effects.

Tolerance: CBD consumers may develop a tolerance over time, which can result in reduced effects from the same dosage. Higher subsequent doses may be needed to achieve the desired results.

+ How long does CBD take to work?

This depends on a number of physiological variables. Some people feel the effects right away and some may need up to 2-3 weeks to experience the full benefit.
